Daniel Jonathan

Licensed Psychotherapist and Psychoanalyst

Welcome!

It takes courage to move in the direction of your pain in order to make a change.  And it’s a wise decision to embrace therapy as the way to do this.

Over a century of psychotherapy, and decades of my own practice, tell me that skilled therapeutic work can make a tremendous difference.

And I believe that healing and aliveness occur not only through self-understanding and emotional honesty, but also through imagination, creativity, and self-discovery.

Integrated Psychotherapy
for a Broad Range of Life Struggles

My approach is rooted in contemporary psychodynamic traditions that understand healing as emerging from deep self-knowledge and genuine encounter within the therapeutic relationship. Where helpful, I integrate  neurologically-informed approaches including EMDR and somatic awareness therapy, as well as elements of CBT and mindfulness-based practices. You can read more about my approach and background in the About Daniel section.

This approach allows me to work effectively with many different people and life struggles, including:

Your Sense of Self

You may struggle with low self-esteem, a fragile or uncertain sense of identity, difficulty knowing what you feel or want, or a feeling of being unknown — even to yourself.

The Effects of Trauma

Traumatic experience can disrupt your life long after the events themselves — emotionally, in your body, and in your relationships.

Anxiety

Living with fear and anxiety can leave you feeling lost, exhausted, and completely overwhelmed.

Depression

Depression can make you feel like you’re stuck in a fog, unable to see a way forward.

Later Life Transitions

Big life changes like retirement, loss, or illness can trigger anxiety and doubt, and shake your sense of self at the core.

Relationship Challenges

Struggle is a normal part of relationships but when it spirals, it comes at the cost of vitality and intimacy.
